I got the Shark GS500 Press & Refresh Garment Steamer after my upright steamer stopped working (conveniently shortly after warranty expired…). So this was an impulse purchase, side effects I had to have something, search since I steam my dress shirt and pants every morning before work.

So lets start with the Good:
It works. It provides extremely hot steam at a good rate. The “ironing plate” at the top actually helps. I guess one could say this product actually delivers.

The bad, and the reason i returned it:
1) Very heavy, which makes it clumsy, it’s very hard to use at an angle etc.
2) Very little water reserve.
3) For my needs I needed something that I could hang the garment, and I have the space.
4) The little pad where the steam comes out kept popping out. (not a biggie if you ask me)

So to sum it up, if you live in a place that will not accommodate a standing steamer, this is an excellent choice. Though it will take counter space 🙂 (Something must give)

If you have the space I highly recommend the Jiffy Steamer J-2000 Residential Series 1300-Watt Garment Steamer.  The one thing about the Jiffy Steamer is that at the first few uses it won’t produce as much steam as it should.  So give it a few uses break in period. This is the one I ended up getting and I use it now daily.
